Period 3 Final Challenge

          1.Define the Problem

• In college many student use their bikes and ride them to school. However, since college dorms and apartments are very crowded their is little room to put a bicycle. Today in class our assignment is to create a storage system for students to keep their bicycle indoors safely.

         2.Brainstorm Solutions

• Storage a bicycle on the back of a door
• Hook up a bicycle to the wall using hooks
• Use a pullie system to hook up a bicycle to the side of the room
• Use hooks to storage a bicycle on the side of you closet
• install a wooden frame attatched to the wall to hold the bicycle in place.

          3.Define criteria and constraints

Egg Drop Challenge

• Team up with a partner
• In this project I worked alone only because my partner was absent.

Define the challenge

• The challenge: construct a barrier to protect the egg from breaking when dropped off the 2nd floor balcony of the 700 building.There is no criteria or constraints.

Brainstrom Solutions

• 1st : Get sandwich plastic bags, bubblewrap, alot of tissue paper and tape.  
• 2nd : Wrap the egg in the tissue paper and tape it. Then after place the egg in the plastic bag.
• 3rd : Put the bubble wrap all around the plastic bag and tape it.

Achievements:

• Brainstorming-Create a sketch of one possible solution. Include labels.

Drop Accuracy:

• The egg hit the floor just fine. The egg however, bounced a little bit but landed okay.

Egg Resilience:

• When the egg drop was over and we had to see if it had any cracks in it my egg was successful and did not break.

• On the side there are six listed and out of those six I would have to say  Technology , Design and Science.Technology is related to engineering because we use it everday to create new things and learn more about engineering. Design is the skill we use to create newer technology. Also Science what would we do with out it. Science helps us move forward with techology and design as we learn more from it.

6) How could you get involved in the field/technology/issue you chose to hear about? What experience/skills/training/education would you need to learn to get involved with this field?

Part II of the TED activity will have you negotiate within a group to select the "best" video to represent the group. The student with the chosen video will recieve extra credit. The group will then prepare a short presentation that summarizes the talk and will present to the class. The class will choose the best presentation and that group will recieve extra credit.

 

• To get into this feild i would have to do 4 years of college and after that it depends on what kind of doctor you want to be varys from 6- 8years and 2 years on an internship. To do this job you would have to maintain a very high level of grades throughout high school and college including medical school.

Reverse Engineering: Mechanical Product - Visual Analysis

• Using a camera phone, digital camera or your laptop's webcam, take pictures of your product that correspond to a multi-view drawing (top, front, side).

  • In this product there are more than three images as shown above. The toy product can be taken abart and put into different positions in which he is angled differently giving different action looks.
• Functional Analysis
• What is the purpose of the product and how does the mechanical nature of the item support that?
• The purpose of the mechanical product is to be sold to youths and the mechanical device evolves when turning or when taking the body apart and positioning them in different ways creating the new version of spiderman.
• Analyze the target audience/demographics
• The target audience are youths of both genders. Spiderman is a comic superhero that even kid loves and would love to be someday. However there are many more superheros siderman is much different.

My Advertisment came from bestbuy who are working with HTC Co. trying to sell the new 4G Android Phone-HTC EVO 4G. However, with this new phone it dose have competition with many other phones such as the iPhone 3 and 4G and newer technology being created as we speak.

-Identify what it is that is being marketed.

The item that is being marketed is the new 4G Android Phone that Is simular to the many iPhone's or iPod's.
This particular phone seems to have many simular qualities to the iPhone like apps , music connections , and a 4G camera it is also a full on touch screen but can be easily broken.

-As a team, discuss each of the advertisements selected. Record both team members observations for the advertisement you've selected. Analyze the add using the following Message Analysis considerations:

In this activity I did not have a team I worked alone on this assignment and found this add in a magazine i was looking at. The 4G Android Phone is a very interesting device its simular to alot of new phone's being made now a days with advanced technology. This particular phone has a 4G camera which is good and can be used as a iPod as well.

The six visual designs we talked about in class are line, color, form/shape, space, texture and value.

2) What are the 5 Visual Design Principles we discussed in class?

The five visuals designs we learned in class today are balance, rythum, unity, emphasis and porpartion.

3) Locate five items at home or at school that utilize the elements and principles of design. Post an image of each product. List and explain any visual design elements or principles that are evident in that product.

Balance

 

The Brooklyn bridge is a good example of balance symmetric and asymmetric which are both a part of balance.

Survival at Sea Game

In this activity Mr.Olsen seperated the class into group and In the activity we had to list what we as group would pick to be important if we where lost at sea. In the list where items like fresh water, life jackets, fishing net, chocolate bar, and many more items.This activity was very tricky yet fun I picked water to start off as number one then went down the list.
Afterwards the team picked all their anwser we talked it out and decided as a group what would be first and last we got most of them right but some wrong it was suprsing to find out that many unimportant items ended up being the top chocies although It was a challange  it was very helpful.

Tennis Ball Team Activity

In this activity Mr.olsen put the class in four different groups and the activity was each group had to touch the tennis ball as fast as we could in order to win. The teams had to work together and stategize different ways the tennis ball could get around the fastest without it falling or touching the ground. Our team was very successful twice in the beginning but during our third try we lost by only a couple of seconds. This activityt was Over all a very good activity.
